Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra - VNSO

The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) was established by Decision No. 79/VH-QĐ on June 14, 1984, under the Ministry of Culture (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism). Throughout its formation and development, VNSO has gradually achieved remarkable achievements. Particularly in the last 10 years, the orchestra has significantly improved its artistic performance quality, earning recognition and high praise not only from audiences, the press, music critics, and colleagues in Vietnam but also from many countries in the region and around the world through domestic and international tours. The orchestra performs approximately 40 concerts annually with a diverse repertoire ranging from classical and romantic pieces to modern compositions by Vietnamese and international musicians. It has also developed and performed cycles of works by renowned composers worldwide, such as the Mahler Cycle, Beethoven Cycle, Mozart Cycle, Brahms Cycle, J. Strauss Cycle, Schubert Cycle, Bruckner Cycle, etc., under the baton of many celebrated international conductors, especially those who have made significant contributions to the orchestra's development, including Honna Tetsuji (VNSO Music Director since 2009), Colin Metters, Fukumura Yoshikazu, Lê Phi Phi, Jonas Alber, Marc Kissozy... and renowned soloists such as NSND Đặng Thái Sơn, Tsutsumi Tsuyoshi, Tamas Varga, Goto Ryu, Imai Nobuko, Bùi Công Duy, Premysl Vojta, Stefan Schilli, Yamashita Yosuke, Rainer Honeck, and more.
