Vietnam Youth Orchestra is the first international youth orchestra in Vietnam, established for youth aged from 12 to 22. Premiered publicly in 2022, VYO is where members discover the life-long joy of music-making and become world citizens with a deep appreciation of the arts, regardless of their future professions. On their inspiring journey, passionate VYO members have performed in the VYO Grand Concert at the Hanoi Opera House and especially the series of VYO Community Concert held at various creative public spaces around the capital. Through the concerts, VYO has presented high-quality classical music pieces and has brought them closer to people of all ages, genders, abilities, as well as has encountered a variety of audiences to share the positive virtues of culture and volunteerism with the community.
VYO rehearse weekly on Sunday mornings at the VNSO's rehearsal hall, 226 Cau Giay, with opportunities to perform in classical concerts in the future. VYO is open to young players of all nationalities. VYO is playground for youth regardless of their nationalities; instruction language in VYO rehearsals is English.
Auditioned Instruments & Member Quota:
- String: Violin (5 members) | Viola (1 member) | Cello (6 members) | Contrabass (3 members)
- Woodwind: Flute (2 members) | Oboe (2 members) | Clarinet (2 members) | Bassoon (2 members)
- Brass: Horn (2 members) | Trombone (2 members) | Tuba (1 member)
- Percussion (4 members)
There are two rounds of VYO Audition:
ROUND 1: VIDEO AUDITION
- Submission will be accepted between January 16th, 2024 and 23h59' February 14th, 2024
- Requirements: 2 parts
One piece of your choice: must be Classical Music, and between 2-10 minutes in length.

- The results of round 1 will be announced via email on February 15th, 2024
ROUND 2: LIVE AUDITION
- Tentative time: February 18th, 2024
- Your Live Audition includes 2 performances:
Orchestra excerpt: same as round 1
Sight-reading: candidates will be asked to play a short excerpt without prior preparation.
