NEW FACES AT VYMI

CHUYỂN ĐỘNG 24H: "THIS NON-PROFIT PROJECT HOPES TO CREATE CONNECTIONS DURING THE COVID-19"

The "My morning song" project, funded by the "Connections through Culture" grant from the British Council, has ended with workshops within the framework of the project for Vietnamese and British children. 70 children from three primary schools in Hanoi, namely Trang An Primary School, Times School Primary School and Sentia School, composed morning songs and sent them to friends across the border at All Souls Primary, St Andrew and St Francis (London) and Macduff Primary (Macduff).

"I'm going to compose a song about the morning, I'll use a bright and cheerful melody."

"I will compose a soft and loving melody." - Sharing from the students in the project.

The project has received attention from many media agencies and the press. The meaningful images and memorable moments of the project were honored to be broadcast by Chuyển động 24h, a program of Vietnam Television, and spread widely to the community.

INTRODUCING THE CONCERT GURU MODEL TO YOUNG ART LOVERS IN HANOI

In March 2022,VYMI launched Concert Guru, a unique and fresh classical music discovery programme for young art lovers aged 16 and above. The unique aspect of this project is the course content, which is geared toward imparting knowledge, evoking, and experiencing the beauty of classical music pieces performed at concerts in Hanoi. Concert Guru's first course, Concert Guru: Lạ Lùng, is praised by the many young people in Hanoi as an inspirational motivation to accompany classical music to them.

CONCERT GURU: LẠ LÙNG, A UNIQUE CLASSICAL MUSIC DISCOVERY JOURNEY

In March 2022, Concert Guru: Lạ Lùng took young people on a journey to discover "VNSO Subscription Concert No.140", with the passionate guidance of a trustworthy friend, Music Educator Trang Trinh and guest artists Conductor of the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra - Honna Tetsuji and pianist Hsin-Chiao Liao. The opportunity to attend the rehearsal of "Schumann Piano Concerto" at the Hanoi Opera House, as well as to have interaction with the guest artists, left a lasting impression on people joining the course.

"Exquisite, quiet and deep, easy to understand"

"I learned amazing knowledge and because I love classical music, this is such a valuable opportunity."

"What impressed me at Concert Guru: Lạ Lùng was experiencing different facets of classical music, hearing from the musicians themselves, and meeting friends with mutual interests and hobbies."

"Well, classical music can also be drawn, can be used to describe people, and is a bridge to help convey a artist's story to listeners. After the workshop, my impressions of classical music completely changed."

"When I knew about Concert Guru: Lạ Lùng, I signed up immediately and everything was exactly as I expected! There was a lot of intriguing, fresh information to learn, and the lesson was a lot of fun."

THE FIRST PHOTO OF VIETNAM YOUTH ORCHESTRA

In the first week of March, 75 official members of VYO gathered for Orientation Day. The VYO conductor, VYO staff, and the whole orchestra met each other here. We exchanged greetings and are received membership cards, music files, VYO publications, and documents.

Especially, VYO feels extremely honored when the meeting has the participation of Mr. Lam Dung - VYMI Director, Mr. Kinoshita - VYMI board member and Ms. Trang Nguyen - an extremely enthusiastic supporter of VYMI. This precious presence is such a great encouragement to VYO staff and members. At the end of the meeting, photos of the entire orchestra were taken and kept as the beginning of a journey of joy and connection.

THE FIRST BARS HAS BEEN PLAYED AT VYO

VYO had a thrilling and exciting first rehearsal on March 13. The first two pieces chosen by the conductor were Andante Festivo (Sibelius) and Blue Danube (Strauss). Although it was the first time to play music together, VYO members immediately showed their seriousness by listening to instructions from the conductor and keeping silent in the rehearsal room. They have been taught from the smallest things like tuning together, practicing the scales together, playing each measure together as an inseparable team. For this reason, each member probably felt that they are extremely important pieces in a beautiful harmony.
