Meritorious Artist Phan Mạnh Đức
Director of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet
Born in 1972, People's Artist Phan Manh Duc has accumulated 27 years of experience in performing Opera and Musical Theater, along with many years of teaching collaboration in the field of Vocal Music at the Military Culture and Arts University, Hanoi College of Art... He has served as the Head of the Opera troupe for 10 years.
Currently, he holds the position of Director at the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet.
Throughout his vibrant career, he has achieved the National Professional Silver Medal in 2015 and the National Professional Silver Medal in 2021. He has taken on numerous leading roles as a Baritone in Vietnamese and international Opera and Musical Theater productions, such as:
The role of Gugliemo in the opera "Cosi fan tutte," performed in Sweden for 2 months with the participation of international soloists and the Swedish Symphony Orchestra. The production was staged by a team of Swedish experts including directors, conductors, pianists, vocal experts, costume designers, and stage designers. Performances were held in Hanoi, Haiphong, and featured alongside 3 leading Swedish Opera artists before touring Ostersund, Solleftea, Sundsvall, Lulea, and Umea.
The role in "Flygande Holendre," rehearsed and performed for 3 months in Sweden. As the leader of the Vietnamese troupe and a soloist, he collaborated with renowned artists from various countries including Sweden, England, France, the United States, and South Africa at the Norrlands Opera House.
The role of Abe no Miushi in "Bamboo Princess," rehearsed for 1 month in Japan and performed in Vietnam. This production was staged by Japanese experts from music composition and direction to conducting. In this project, besides his role as a soloist, he also acted as the artistic manager of the Vietnamese Traditional Music group.
Solo performance in the cultural program "Vietnamese Culture Days in Russia" in Moscow, Volgograd, and for overseas Vietnamese communities in Russia. This program was highly praised and awarded Certificate of Merit No. 2631/QD-BVHTTDL dated July 22, 2016.
Solo performance in the cultural program in Vientiane, Lao People's Democratic Republic, commended with Certificate No. 823 dated November 8, 2004.
